Hello

A bit about me

I’m Holly, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Congresbury, North Somerset.

I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can talk openly about what you are carrying — without needing to minimise, justify or hold everything together.

My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I am also a parent carer myself, and this has given me a deep personal understanding of how complex, emotional and often unseen caring can feel.

Why this work matters to me

I came to this work through both personal and professional experience.

Becoming a mum and a parent carer to a disabled child changed the way I understood support, uncertainty, grief, love, exhaustion and resilience. It also helped me understand how important it can be to have a space where you are not expected to be coping, explaining systems, or looking after everyone else’s needs.

I know that every family is different, and I will not assume that your experience is the same as mine. But my own experience helps me bring warmth, sensitivity and understanding to this work.

My hope is to offer a space where you can feel met as a whole person — not only in your caring role, but in your relationships, identity, emotions and needs.

What therapy with me is like

Therapy with me is warm, collaborative and gently paced.

You do not need to arrive with a clear plan or the “right” words. Some sessions may feel reflective and exploratory. Others may focus on practical ways to cope with anxiety, stress, relationship strain or difficult emotions.

Together, we might explore patterns that feel stuck, parts of you that feel exhausted or responsible, or experiences that have left you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or alone.

I will not tell you what to do or how to feel. My role is to listen carefully, help you make sense of what is happening, and support you to find ways forward that feel realistic and meaningful for your life.

My professional background

I have experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, burnout and the emotional impact of caring roles.

My background includes work in NHS mental health services, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as experience supporting carers, parents, autistic adults, people with learning disabilities and families navigating complex support needs.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Relational psychotherapy

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Compassion Focused Therapy

  • Trauma-informed practice

  • Internal Family Systems-informed ideas

The way we work together will depend on what feels most helpful for you. Some people want practical tools and strategies. Others need space to process, reflect, grieve, reconnect with themselves, or understand why certain patterns keep repeating.

Qualifications and training

My qualifications and training include:

  • BSc Psychology

  • Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (2010)

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Studies (2013)

  • Certificate in Couple/ Relationship therapy (2026)

I continue to develop my practice through ongoing training, supervision and reflective work.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics.

A space where you can be more than the role you carry

Many people come to therapy feeling that they have had to be strong for a long time.

Therapy can be a place where you do not have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have it all worked out. It can be a space to pause, speak honestly, and begin to reconnect with yourself.
